Our client is a growing international mobility and logistics firm with an innovative portfolio services and solutions.
The role
The role will predominately (70%) focus on financial planning and analysis (FP&A) but also have oversight of strategic treasury initiatives, from an FP&A perspective and be on a regional finance panel which will analyse future local funding initiatives and pitches from banks (30%).
Financial planning & analysis
- Lead the annual budgeting process and regular financial forecasting sessions, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the business in Japan.
Performance management
- Analyse current and past financial data and performance, conducting variance analysis to compare budgeted figures against actuals, identifying reasons for variances and proposing corrective actions.
- Work with finance and non-finance teams (e.g. operations, marketing, etc.) to obtain necessary financial and non-financial data for analytics and decision-making process.
- Prepare monthly reports and quarterly board meeting materials for senior management, highlighting key financial performance indicators.
- Provide analytical support for strategic projects, including market analysis, business opportunities, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Lead or support projects that improves FP&A capabilities, including integration of data across the group and workflow automation.
Treasury strategy management
- Lead or assist Head of Finance in loan sourcing efforts and maintain credible banking relationships in Japan.
- Maintain requirements of financing arrangements such as loan covenants assessment of submission of periodical documents such as audited financials.
- Assist in identifying and evaluating financial risks and opportunities, contributing to the development of risk management strategies.
- Maintain consistent and accurate updates with Group Treasury team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field. Local or internationally recognised professional certifications such as JICPA, ACCA, ICAEW would be preferred
- A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant management experience in financial planning and analysis role, including proven track record of leading budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes.
- Business level proficiency with both Japanese and English required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
- Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint with good presentation skills to present concise and clear reporting to stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically, with the ability to adapt to business needs and priorities.
- Experience in Treasury whilst not mandatory, a basic understanding of Treasury concepts would be preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners. Ability to influence and engage with finance and non-finance stakeholders within and out of Japan.
